The Boardwalk Foundation will be bringing you a weekend of fantastic skating and community events on Saturday 23rd Feb.
We have some great interactive events throughout the day and thanks to The National Lottery -“Awards for All” these will be free!!
Spaces are strictly limited and booking is essential for all rink sessions and workshops.

Noon-1pm– Lothian Roller Derby Demonstration
Roller derby is a full-contact sport played on quad roller skates, by players skating around an elliptical track. The game consists of a series of two-minute countdown jams. No skating will be permitted by the public during this demo, spectators only – No booking required

2pm-4pm– Playtone Skate Dance –

Tinuke’s Orbit and Obie Pearl are disco-licious performing artists and professional instructors who have travelled the world sharing the disco fever, through friendship, love, fitness and fun!
Tinuke is trained under Starlight Express the musical. Obie under Marawa The Amazing, holding a Guinness World Record for ‘most hoops spun simultaneously as a group’, these cats can even spin multi-hoops and roller skate at the same time!

3pm,4pm & 5pm– Chicks in Bowls Skate Maintenance Workshops
Lead by Chicks in Bowls Scotland this 45 minute interactive workshop will fill you in on all of the maintenance low down.Topics covered include: Know your skates!, Cleaning your wheels, Bearings, Trucks and pivot cups.

5pm-6pm– Sugar & Spin Roller Dance Workshop
Have a go at roller dance with ‘Sugar and Spin’ at ‘Rock N Roll The Dock’! Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund entry to the session is free of charge.Restrictions apply, see below
In this taster class you will learn some beginner roller dance moves before putting them into a fun sequence. Great if you are attending the roller disco afterwards!
This class is great for age 12+ skaters of all experience levels, including beginners. However it is recommended that participants can roll forward, stop and step to the side on rollerskates before attending this class – Book Here
6pm-8pm– 2 Hour Roller Disco with “Ritchie Rufftone”
As part of our Rock & Roll the Dock event, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, come along to our free 2 hour roller disco. Finishing of the day with a big bang with live music from Ritchie Ruftone, put your new skate moves and grooves into action!– Book Here
Transgression Park: Whats on:
7pm-8pm– Kids in Bowls. An introduction to skatepark skating for children 5-15 years old. Free helmet and Wristguard hire. Participants will require: roller skates, knee and elbow protection. Brought to you by Chicks in Bowls Scotland and Lothian Roller Derby. *Skate hire is not available for this event*
8pm-10pm– Chicks in Bowls . Skatepark session for confident skaters, open to all quad and inline skaters. Free helmet and Wristguard hire available. Participants will require: Skates ( quad or inline) elbow and knee protection. Brought to you by: CIBS,Transgression Park. *Skate hire is not available for this event*

Marine Parade Graffiti Wall: Whats on:
9am-8pm – Graffiti jam, Come down and watch the wall being transformed by Europes top graffiti and street artists. Take part in workshops and learn to tag on our practice space.
